A Unique Path to Spiritual Direction
Bruce Corrigan is an Anglican Priest with a story that is a testament to the unexpected twists and turns that life can bring. His journey has been anything but conventional, taking him from the decks of Navy ships to the sacred halls of Anglican formation. Bruce's diverse experiences resonate deeply with the devout and those yearning for direction, understanding, or reconnection with their faith.
Bruce is married to Meg Corrigan, also a military veteran. Together, they have been blessed with five children and ten grandchildren. His role as a father and grandfather has given him profound insights into the challenges and joys of family life, grounding him in experiences that many can relate to.
Bruce's life as a dedicated Career Navy Officer saw him serving on five Navy ships and various shore commands. Over two decades, he experienced the rigors of multiple deployments, became a veteran of Desert Storm, and was a member of the Multinational Peacekeeping Force during the conflict in Lebanon. Rising from the rank of Seaman Recruit to Lt Commander, Bruce's naval journey exposed him to over 25 countries, offering him a unique perspective that few possess.
While in the Navy, Bruce earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Administration through a full scholarship, demonstrating his commitment to personal growth and development even amidst the demands of military life. He thrived in the business world, working as a government contractor and directing marketing services and logistics for one of the U.S.'s most significant media companies. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to create a successful Marketing Logistics Company in Knoxville, which eventually allowed him an early retirement.
But retirement brought no stillness for Bruce. Feeling a strong pull towards service, he served as the administrator and finance officer for a Roman Catholic parish, managing the needs of over 6,000 congregation members for nine years. His dedication and leadership inspired many.
A lifelong Roman Catholic, Bruce found a renewed passion for his faith through Anglicanism. This spiritual rekindling propelled him into extensive theological and biblical studies. He completed a Master of Divinity, a Master of Theological Studies in Biblical Studies, a Master of Ministry, and several other programs, including Diaconal Studies at Trinity School for Ministry, Anglican Studies at St. Paul's House of Anglican Formation, and Spiritual Director's studies at the St. Benedict Center for Spiritual Formation.
Whether you have consistently adhered to a faith tradition, are seeking a newfound connection, or have distanced yourself from your spiritual roots or previous church, Bruce's multifaceted life story makes him an ideal spiritual director. Embodying a worldly yet pastoral spirit, Bruce is ready to guide you on your spiritual journey, wherever it may lead. His broad spectrum of experiences and profound insights into both secular and sacred realms uniquely position him to offer compassionate, understanding, and insightful spiritual guidance.
